February 4-6, 2010

Walled Lake Western High School announces that they will be doing another The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for their winter show. The show will be performed on February 4th, 5th, and 6th at 7:30p.m.  Tickets for these performances will only be sold at the door.  Ticket prices range from $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.

"We wanted to do a musical comedy for the winter show after doing a serious fall show", said Ms. Paullin, Walled Lake Western's Drama Teacher and Director and Producer of the musical.  "Spelling Bee fit the bill with its sharp-witted lyrics and hilarious dialog", she added.

About Putnam County Spelling Bee
The one-act musical centers around a fictional spelling bee set in the geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. During the show, six quirky adolescents, in the throes of puberty, compete in the Bee to win the championship of a lifetime.  The contest is run by three equally-quirky grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves.  Together they learn that winning isn't everything, and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.  The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
