  • Source: CW50

August 9th

The Green Cruise is an event that celebrates forms of transportation that do not burn fossil fuels. Participants of all ages will show off their green forms of transportation in a parade that goes across Nine Mile, beginning at Woodward Avenue in Ferndale.

The 2007 event drew 700 people, this year; organizers say they are expecting 1,000.The parade ends at Geary Park where participants will have an opportunity to learn about green changes they can make in their lives.

"The best solution to this pollution problem is to get active and promote bike lanes throughout metro-Detroit," said Shirley Bavonese, Sierra Club member and Green Cruise founder. "The Sierra Club Green Cruise parade does just that by celebrating solutions that improve air quality such as biking and walking."
