Wei Shen

Community Correspondents. Street Beat

Community Correspondent Wei Shen is a Shanghai native, a Bloomfield Hills resident, the Market Launch Manager for all future Cadillac vehicles at General Motors, and the Executive Director of Cultural Affairs for Chinese Americans of Greater Detroit (CAGD), the largest local Chinese American organization in Michigan.  She is also a devoted wife and mother. 

Wei grew up in Communist China were she was discouraged by authorities from playing the violin because it was not considered appropriate from a cultural or political standpoint. Today, both of her children are accomplished musicians who play both the violin and piano and Wei is a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's New Leaders, a group of individuals from various professions who assist the DSO in its community outreach efforts.
